DCP GENERAL OPERATING FUND

Learn More

As a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, DCP relies on the generosity of individuals, companies, and foundations to support critical elements of DCP’s program that are not fully covered through public funds. These include: college counseling, social-emotional counseling, intervention and enrichment programs, and parent education.
Gifts to DCP’s General Operating Fund impact 1500 students and families and over 900 alumni annually.

DCP COLLEGE
SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Learn More

The DCP College Scholarship Fund was founded in 2004 by a dedicated group of community supporters and volunteers to help bridge the gap between financial aid and the actual cost of attending college. Scholarship funds are issued to the universities where DCP graduates attend to offset tuition and housing costs. Since 2004, over $1,000,000 in scholarship funds have been awarded to DCP graduates.

The Scholarship Fund represents a distinct and separate fundraising effort from our general operating expenses.

DAN VALDESPINO
MEMORIAL FUND

Learn More

Dan Valdespino was a beloved Social Studies and Science Teacher at DCP Alum Rock Middle School. He came to DCP, having taught many of these same students in elementary school. He valued meaningful relationships with students and found great joy in their growth and success. Though he was at DCP for a short time, he left a profound imprint on students, families and his colleagues. Recently, a wing in our new DCP Alum Rock Middle School facility was dedicated to Dan. The “V” wing honors and celebrates his impact and his love for our students. The Memorial Fund will go towards college scholarships for DCP graduates with compelling stories who are pursuing majors in Social Studies or Science.

FRIENDS OF BOB GRIMM MEMORIAL FUND

Learn More

Bob Grimm was instrumental to the launch and success of Downtown College Prep. From 2000-06, Bob served as President of DCP’s Board of Directors where he provided invaluable leadership with a commitment to ethics and integrity. Bob delighted in seeing DCP students succeed. He believed EVERY student could achieve and make meaningful contributions to the world.

Bob believed literacy was the foundation of learning, which is why when DCP launched its reading program Bob agreed to purchase books for our classroom libraries. Today, there are several thousand young adult novels throughout all DCP schools.

Your contribution will continue Bob’s commitment to literacy by ensuring students have access to high-quality books.

DACA
Renewal Fund

Learn More

The repeal of DACA is a repulsive political act that has devastating consequences for the DCP community and our mission. #StandWithDreamers

DCP has a nearly twenty-year track record of nurturing and supporting Dreamers and their families. Before DACA, the California Dream Act, and even before AB 540, DCP laid the groundwork to ensure Dreamers were on track to matriculate directly to two- and four-year colleges. Dreamers have also had access to DCP’s College Scholarship Program. Our students, along with teacher and counselor allies, developed the first DREAM clubs on school campuses. Today, our alumni lead in immigrant rights organizations on their campuses and across California.

It is on this foundation that DCP re-commits to Dreamers and our values of inclusion, equity, and justice.
