We want to congratulate DCP El Primero High School's Speech & Debate Team. On December 12th of 2021, with final exams right around the corner, the team came together for the Silicon Valley Urban Debate League: Dolores Huerta Invitational. With an early 8:30am start, students competed with peers from nine local high schools and earned several accolades. We'd also like to thank and congratulate DCP El Primero teachers Jessica Lew-Munoz and Lindsay Denton who serve as coaches for the Speech & Debate Team. Full list of final results below:
Fernando Martinez - 9th grade and Eddie Flores - 10th grade: Participated in their first debate tournament, went (2-1).
Marcos Herrera - 10th grade: Went undefeated (3-0) and earned 2nd place overall in Novice debate.
Fabiola Diaz - 10th grade: Went undefeated (3-0), earned 2nd place overall in Novice debate, won 1st place overall for being the Best Novice Debate Speaker in the tournament.
Chris McGinnis - 12th grade: Went undefeated (3-0), won 1st place overall for Varsity debate, won 1st place overall for being the Best Varsity Debate Speaker in the tournament.
Addis Arciniega - 12th grade: Went undefeated (3-0); won 1st place overall for Varsity debate.
